Vidly Privacy Policy

Effective Date: March 10, 2026

Welcome to Vidly (referred to as "this App"). We understand that your personal information is important to you and are dedicated to safeguarding your privacy. This document explains our practices regarding the collection, usage, storage, and sharing of your information, as well as outlining your rights. Before using this App, kindly review this policy. Your continued use of the App constitutes your acceptance of the practices described herein.

1. Information We Collect

To deliver our services effectively, we gather only the minimum information required, adhering to the principle of data minimization.

1.1 Information You Voluntarily Provide

When utilizing the App’s recording and management features, you may choose to provide:

1.1.1 Media Content: Video and photo files you record, upload, or import. This includes associated metadata like the file itself, creation date, device model, and resolution. This data is essential for the core functionality of storing and organizing your media.

1.1.2 Account Information: If you create an account for data synchronization, you will provide your email address as your identifier. You may also create a password. No other personally identifying information is required.

1.2 Information Collected Automatically

To ensure optimal performance and enhance your user experience, we automatically collect:

1.2.1 Device Details: Information such as your device model, operating system version, unique device identifiers (e.g., IMEI, UUID), and storage capacity. This helps us troubleshoot issues and ensure compatibility across different devices.

1.2.2 Usage Data: Records of your interactions within the App (e.g., navigating to different sections, switching between photo and video views) and the timing/frequency of your visits. This data is used solely to understand usage patterns and refine features.

1.2.3 Permission-Related Data: To access and save media, we request storage permission. If you use the in-app camera, we request camera and microphone permissions (used only during active capture, never in the background). All permissions require your explicit consent.

2. How We Use Your Information

Your information is used exclusively for the following purposes and will not be used for anything else without your explicit permission:

2.1 Core Functionality: To enable core features like displaying your media library, showing video covers and details, organizing content by date, and allowing seamless switching between photo and video views.

2.2 Service Security: To protect your data and account (if applicable) by using device and usage information to detect unusual activity and prevent security threats.

2.3 Experience Enhancement: To analyze feature popularity and optimize the App's interface and performance, such as improving loading times for media lists.

2.4 User Support: To respond to your inquiries, feedback, or requests submitted via email, using your contact information to communicate with you.

3. Data Storage and Retention

3.1 Storage Location

3.1.1 Local Storage: By default, all media you create or import is stored locally on your device. We do not upload it to our servers automatically.

3.1.2 Cloud Storage (Optional): If you opt-in to account synchronization, your media and account details are encrypted and stored on secure third-party cloud servers (compliant with international standards). Data transmission is protected by SSL encryption.

3.2 Retention Period

3.2.1 Local Data: You have full control. You can delete media at any time using the App's delete function or your device's file manager. Data remains on your device until you choose to remove it.

3.2.2 Cloud Data: For registered users, data is retained while your account is active. Upon account deletion, we will remove your cloud-stored information within 15 business days, unless a longer retention period is required by law.

4. Information Sharing and Disclosure

We value your trust and do not sell or rent your personal information. We only share data in these limited situations, ensuring third parties adhere to strict confidentiality and this policy:

4.1 Service Providers: We engage trusted third-party providers for services like cloud storage and data backup. They receive only the information necessary to perform these tasks (e.g., media files, device identifiers) and are prohibited from using it for any other purpose.

4.2 Legal Compliance: We may disclose information if required by a valid legal request (e.g., court order, subpoena) to comply with applicable laws, protect our rights, or ensure public safety.

4.3 With Your Consent: We share information with third parties when you give us explicit permission, such as when you share a video or photo using the App's sharing features.

5. Your Rights and Choices

You have significant control over your personal information:

5.1 Access: You can view your media and its associated details directly within the App's interface.

5.2 Correction: You can edit metadata (like the date of a media file) using in-app editing tools. Account details like your email can be updated in "Account Settings."

5.3 Deletion: You can delete individual or multiple media items. If you have an account, you can request its deletion within "Account Settings," triggering the data removal process outlined in section 3.2.2.

5.4 Permission Controls: You can manage App permissions (storage, camera, microphone) at any time through your device's settings. Disabling certain permissions may limit functionality but won't affect basic browsing.

6. Data Security Measures

We employ technical and organizational measures to protect your information:

6.1 Technical Safeguards: We use SSL encryption for data transmission, encrypt sensitive stored data (like passwords), and regularly perform security assessments to identify and address potential vulnerabilities.

6.2 Organizational Controls: Access to personal information is restricted to authorized personnel on a strict need-to-know basis, who are required to undergo regular privacy training.

6.3 Incident Response: In the event of a data breach, we have a response plan to contain and remediate the issue. If the incident poses a risk to your rights, we will notify you within 72 hours via the contact information you provided.

7. Children's Privacy

This App is not directed towards children. If a minor uses the App with a parent or guardian's consent, the guardian is responsible for supervising their use and ensuring only necessary information is provided. If you believe a child has provided personal information without proper consent, please contact us immediately so we can delete it.

8. Policy Updates

We may revise this privacy policy to reflect changes in our practices or legal obligations. The latest version will always be available in the App with an updated effective date. For significant changes affecting your rights, we will provide a more prominent notice, such as an in-app notification or email. Your continued use of the App after such updates means you accept the revised policy.
